Welcome to

At first glance, the Lutherkirche church at Durlacher Tor appears imposing from the outside. However, once inside, visitors can experience its wonderful Art Nouveau interior. The church, designed by Robert Curjel and Karl Moser and completed in 1905, focuses on a centrally positioned relief of the Sermon on the Mount by sculptor Hermann Binz. All the surrounding walls and the ceiling are ornamentally decorated.  The pews are grouped in a semicircle around the central axis of the organ, pulpit, and altar. Special details include the large chandelier and the stained glass windows, although these are no longer the originals by Max Laeuger, but were redesigned in 1960 by Klaus Arnold, former rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe.
