Welcome to Old slaughterhouse Karlsruhe
After the slaughterhouse was closed down at the end of 2006, the site in the middle of the city became a new **center for cultural and creative professionals**.
The area offers artists and interested parties an extraordinary atmosphere for innovative ideas and relaxation alike. Art and culture meet here, as do office buildings and restaurants. The former inn still houses a restaurant today, the "Im Schlachthof." The restaurant is particularly popular on Sundays for brunch. Not far away, you will find Carls Wirtshaus, Aurum Weinbar, and Alte Hackerei, a bar with regular live music. If you want to dance after dinner, Tollhaus or Substage are the places to go. The diverse cultural program offers a mix of music, dance, and cabaret for everyone.
Perfekt Futur is a special place for young start-ups. The former pig market hall houses 68 used sea freight containers, which contain office units. The Karlsruhe Human Rights Center is also located on the grounds of the old slaughterhouse.
