Founded in 1981, the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe is one of the best-known art museums in south-west Germany. Since 1997, it has been located in the Hallenbau building on Lorenzstraße next to the ZKM | Center for Art and Media. The fascinating architecture of the listed industrial building houses changing exhibitions and the permanent collection on three floors. The permanent presentation, which is constantly being redesigned, shows a selection of the most important works of art owned by the city and from the renowned Garnatz private collection. The focus is on art in Karlsruhe and the German southwest since the 19th century as well as German art from 1945 to the immediate present. Stop: ZKM
