Welcome to
**The Schlossgarten** is a large park behind Karlsruhe Palace, where people meet for picnics, play sports, relax from the stress of everyday life, or take a long stroll through the city.
The park was laid out in 1967 in the style of an English landscape park on the occasion of the Federal Horticultural Show.
Sculptures from the Baroque to the Modern era, monuments, fountains from various periods, and the Stadtgartensee lake enliven the green spaces. Here, the people of Karlsruhe relax from the stress of everyday life with sunbathing and picnics.
With its water lily and pheasant gardens and the "Schlossgartenbähnle" miniature train, the palace gardens offer a variety of recreational opportunities. Since 2000, a striking beam of 1645 blue ceramic tiles has cut through the lawn. It marks a former axis that led directly to the palace park wall and from there to the State Majolica Manufactory. Unlike the City Garden, admission is generally free of charge. The entrance to the Botanical Garden is located west of the palace.
