Welcome to

The Baden-Württemberg State Mint in Karlsruhe is Germany's smallest mint and is located in the city center. The new building for the Baden mint was constructed in 1826/27. Begun by architect **Friedrich Weinbrenner**, the work was continued by his student Friedrich Theodor Fischer after Weinbrenner's death. As Weinbrenner's only monumental building, it survived World War II almost unscathed. The three-part central section of the main building forms the northern end of Karlstraße. During a major renovation from 1976 to 1988, Weinbrenner's architecture was largely preserved, but the room layout was changed to accommodate new production processes. Remnants of the original decoration have been preserved in the building. The building is still used as a mint today, where German coins with the mint mark G are produced. Further information can also be found in the Karlsruhe [city encyclopedia.](https://stadtlexikon.karlsruhe.de/index.php/De:Lexikon:ins-1106)
